Abundant Hydropower Resources

There are many rivers flowing throughout the Liangshan, with affluent hydropower resources, which reserves 71,000,000 KW in theory and 60,000,000 KW can be exploited. The Three River Valleys of Yalong River, Jinsha River and Dadu River, flowing through Liangshan, have strong water flow and large drop height, which is endowed with promising future in the development of hydropower. It is the important base and key electrical power supply of the electricity from the western to the eastern regions in China.
At present, among the 14 large-sized hydropower stations to be planed in the *Three River Valleys*, there are 9 stations in Liangshan. They are Xi Luo Du (12,600,000 KW), Bai He Tan (13,050,000 KW), Wu Dong De (7,800,000 KW), Jin Ping 1st & 2nd Class (8,000,000 KW), Guan Di (2,000,000 KW), Pu Bu Gou (3,300,000 KW). Xi Luo du, Jin Ping 1st & 2nd Class and Pu Bu Gou has been in the course of construction. The small-sized hydropower stations in Liangshan reserve 14,786,000 KW in theory, and 899 small and medium-sized hydropower stations has been built up, and the total installed capacity of electricity has reached 655,000 KW.

Nature-endowed Mineral
Resources
Liangshan is situated at the famous metallogenic belt of Pan-xi Rift Valley, which is the rare "Goldmine" in China, even in the world, called "Chinese Ural".
Liangshan is rich in minerals, with the features of high grade, shallow bury, good condition for mining, and high value of comprehensive utilization. Now, it has proved that there are 84 kinds of mineral, and 60 with vast storage. And there are 30 large and king-sized mineral deposits, and 63 middle-sized mineral deposits.
Among the main minerals, vanadium titan-magnetite reserves 16.552 billion tons, and vanadium-titanium reserves 833.4 million tons, which rank at second place in the world. Light rare earths oxide reserves 1,030,600 tons in total, which ranks at the first in the Sichuan province, and second place in China. The metal quantity of copper, lead, zinc and tin reaches 4,850,700 tons, ranking at the first in Sichuan province, which plays an important role in South-west, even in the whole country.

Liangshan is rich in light and heat, with abundant rain; the feature of three-dimensional climate here is remarkable, and the agriculture and biological resources are full of features, which is called the Gene bank of various animals and plants. Anning River Valley, the second plain of Sichuan province, which is called "Granary of South Sichuan", is the key area of national and provincial agricultural development. "Gold Combination" formed by oil, climate and species, make the single output and quality of grain crops and economic crops high. It produces the tobacco leaf, which can compare favorably with those of America, and it is the important base to produce, store and export excellent tobacco leaves. The sugar cane, silkworm, early vegetables, apples, pomegranates, oranges and some other fruits are widely known both inside and outside the province. Liangshan possess 1.73 million hectares of woodland, with 30.6% of forest coverage; the stocking volume has reached 230 million cubic meters, and has grassland area of 2.41 million hectares, which makes up 40% of total area. There are numerous wild plant resources with 2400 kinds of medicinal herbs, which are called "Treasure of Medicinal Herbs in South Sichuan". |

Liangshan has beautiful natural scenery, with natural and human landscapes anywhere, and the ethnic folklore and customs here are full of characteristics. It is one of the regions with richest tourist resources in Sichuan province. There are over 160 scenic spots, which is full of value to sightsee and exploit. Now, there are Lugu Lake, Qionghai-Lu Mountain, Luoji Mountain, Linshan Temple and some other scenic sites at national level; Meigu Dafengding State-level natural protection areas of Giant Panda; Xichang Satellite Launching Center with modern high-tech landscape; Museum of Slave Society of Yi people in Liangshan, which is the only place in the country to present the history and culture of Yi people; Special custom of Mosuo minorities in the region of Lugu Lake…… |

Liangshan is a multi-ethic region, and each ethic has long history, with charming and simple custom. The customs of over 10 ethics of Yi, Zang, Hui, Buyi, Lisu ethnic minorities are colorful.
The"Tuotuo Meat" and "Gangan Wine" of Yi people, buttered tea of Tibetan people, "Sulima Wine" of Mosuo People have distinctive flavor; "Torch Festival" of Yi people, "Guer Bang Festival: of Hui people, "NiuWang Hui" of Lisu people, " July 6th" of Buyi people are always in full blast; "Bi Mo Culture" of Big Liangshan region is full of magical color, with beautiful dresses, songs and dances; the "Take Bride" of Yi people and "A Zhu" marriage of Mosuo people is very interesting.
